WASTE LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the. Board was held this day; present —Messrs Strode (in the chair), Bastings, Butterworth, and Clark. ; Mr J. N; B. M'Gregor stated that his men .were prevented from cutting the timber on his run No.. 39, aud that the timber was seized by the Ranger. He therefore asked that the latter be instructed not to interfere for the future. Referred to the Ranger, to report fully on the matter. The Government recommended the appointment of Mr Hayward as Ranger to protect the bush at Waikava, at a salary of L3O per annum. Agreed to. Messrs Smith, Anderson, andSinclanyfor the New Zealand and Land Company, accepted the coal lease of twenty acres at Kurow, on run No. 23, for twenty-one years, at a rental of 20s per acre per annum, and under the other Usual conditions. Survey to be made, subject to the approval of the Board. • : . ■
