Ladybird oh Sunday next, at 11 a.m., The steamer will leave Rattray street wharf and proceed direefe to sea.' 1 ■ According to advertisement m our columns the North Dunedin Rifles are to' assemble at their drillshed to-morrow evening at eight o’clock,- for Commanding-officer’s parade and monthly inspection of arms; As volunteering is again becoming popular, as evinced by , the excellent muster of the City Guards last evening, we hope to see a good attendance of our northern defenders to-mor-row evening. ‘ 1
■; Themohtldy inspection of the No. I City Guards took' place in the drillahed last evening. ■ There were present —No. 1 City Guards: 1 captain,' I lieutenant, 4 sergeants, and 36 rank and file j Cadets'; .1 lieutenant, 1 sub-lieutenaiit, 4 sergeants, and 36 rank and file Guards Bandi 1 master, 1 sergeant, and 14' bandsmen. Whilst the band went out for parade, the volunteers were inspected by lieut. Pell, Acting-Adjutant, and afterwards put through hattallion .drill by Sergeant-Major Harrison, and acquitted themselves in'a satisfactory manner.
