Bow Bells, Young L 'dies' Journal London Journal, and Family Herald. J. Braithwaite, High street, Dunedin.
The two first-named journals are more than usually interesting, containing as they do so many new stories for Christmas and New Year. The patterns for all kinds of fancy knick-knacks, needlework, and embroidery are very good, especially those in the gigantic supplement of the ' Young Ladies Journal/ There is also a handsome design for a cheval screen in Berlin woolwork given with the same journal. •The Family Herald,' as usual, has much that is interesting and amusing. '' The squire's legacy ' is finished, and at present no new story is commenced to take its place, but as this is only the November number, a new tale will be given next month for Christmas time. " The Girdle of Truth," and " Educate your Wives," are two short articles worthy of something more than a passine glance. r °
The London Journal' gives an interesting though short sketch of the route to be taken by the Prince of Wales through India, and a. nice little wood cut of the town and harbour of Bombay, Another short and highly interesting article is devoted to an account of "The Charge of the Light Brigade," and a few remarks on the bauquet given on the twenty-first anniversary of that event. A new tale is commenced called, "Ethel Wynne's Secret," also one entitled, "The Pride of Birth •" the latter is by Pierce Egan, some of whose works of fiction have been published in former numbers of this journal. The ladies' supplement has a good traced pattern of the Olga boddice." It is the only traced pattern issued by any of these magazines this month. The usual colored plates accompanies the supplement.
