J. Rollinson, W.C.t! Addresses were delivered by delegates from sister lodges, and by the Rev. Mr Sutherland, who denounced in strong tewrn the (prevalent custom of hawking liquor in the district, and, although not a Good Templar himself, said he went heart and hand in the great work that they had undertaken. The local choir, under the leadership of Mr Dryden, gave some selections!. Various songs, readings, and recitations by local amateurs, received merited applause. The proceds of the concert are to be devoted to assisting an invalid resident in the- diatlTOtfl ■ y. - * Complaints are rife concerning nuisances emanating from several piggeries, slaughter yards, &c., adjacent to the township! If we had a municipality there might be a chance of our sanitary requirements receiving attention. . ■
