CRICKET.

The match played on the Oval this afternoon was between members of the Club, A to K and Lto Z. A capital wicket had been prepared by Hendley. H. E. Godby having won the toss, decided to take advantage of this, and sent his team in. Macdonnell captained the other side. The respective. sides were,:—A to K : Allen, Godby M,, Brown, Godby H. E., Clarke, Fenwick, Johnson, Dixon, Coutts, Glen, Godby and Buckingham. X. to Z: —Marshall, M‘Donnell, Rowe, Rose, Robinson, Tait, Reid, Lathbury, Sutcliffe, ' and Lambert. Allen and Brown were the first to go to the wickets. Lathbury took up the bowling at the Kensington end, and on his third ball Allen was run out in foolishly at-: tempting a short run. I—o—o. Godby M. 3 lied the vacancy. Brown was cleaned fedby Lathbury in the same over. 2-^-o—o. Godby H. E. ; joined his brother, Robinson bowled from the end. Godby H. E. was'bowled a few minutes after by Robinson with a regular trimmer. 3—l—6. Clarke was the incomer, andheimmediately drove Robinson to the off for 3. The batsmen gave the fielders some work, and runs came apace; When the telegraph board showed 30, Tait relieved Lathbury. Godby M., after putting 10 together, was Well caught by Rowe. 4——lo—-33. Fenwick took his place at the wickets. Lathbury went on m place of Robinson with slows, whichproved effectual, he being credited with three wickets in his second over. Clark, played well for 24, included‘two 3’s, and five 2’s. Rowe relieved Tait, who had delivered a succession of wides.
