We( r Nfcw Zealand .Times ’) have to thank Mr Brown, General, f r the annexed return of immigration and emigration during the year 1875. From the statement it will be seen that the excess of immigration over emigration for' tW' past year was 25,694, of whom 16,113 were males and 10,581 females. The net gain of population by immigralion was made up as under:— From United Kingdom 21437 From British Colonies ... ... 1*987 From other places ... 2*280 Thesefignresare highly satisfactory.’ and prove the high N esteem in which New Zealand is held.
