FIRE.

At 12.30 p.m. to-day a building, consisting of a four-stall stable, loose-box,, buggy, and straw shed, situate at the rear ofMr John. Chaplin’s residence, in street, and ; ,in which "'were„olsingle harness, a number 'of collars, and some portions' of old. harness, besides a quantity of oats and straw, were; der stroyed by fire. Walter Smith, groom, states that he left the stable about noon; there was then no sign of fire. There is no clue to the origin of the fire. The stable (which was burned down a little over three years ago) is owned by the trustees in the estate o? the late Mr John Jones.
