MURDER BY A MAORI.
, Auckland, January 27.. Packer, a European, employed by Mr Cleghom at Epsom, was found-m a clump in the bush rife head was fearfully smashed with a tomahawk. Beside the body was found deceased’s coats; in which was L3O. There m a dispute yesterday about Vome m ®Wey, and there seems very little doubt that a Maon coriunitted the murder. It is thought probable that he will make for the King country, mit the police ate in pursuit with the intention of stopping him. The Native who is believed to have murdered Packer was. seen about the .-premises at four in the morning.
