The election petition arising, out of the East Coast contest is likely to fall through owing'to a lack of funds. The official scrutiny of tife Waitetnat& election reduced Maofarlane’a majority over Hurst to A petition i against tfie Rodney election is mooted, on the gijQund that the Puhoi settlers, not being naturalised were disquali- ' fled from voting.
