The Union Company’s s.s. Maori took her departure with cargo and passengers for Oamaru shortly after the arrival of the seven train from Dunedin this morning. The Union Company’s chartered s.s. Wanganui returned from her usual trip to Lyttclion via Timaru at nine this morning, and after* landing her passengers at the railway pier steamed alongside the ship Calypso to discharge 157 bales of wool. She left Lyttelton at 2 a.m. on the 23rd, Aharon at 3,30 p.m., and arrived at Timaru, where she took on board, besides other cargo, 279 bales of wool, and left at 6.30 p.m. on the 24th, arriving ns above. We thank Mr Latimer, purser, for report and other favors. The Union Company’s fine s.s. Hawea, with cargo and passengers for the Northern ports, took her departure from the railway pier this afternoon. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Lyttelton, January 24.—Arrived: Ship Sonknv, 105 days out, all well, with 244 immigrants. Passengers, Mr and Mrs Plante, 3 children; Mr and Mrs Barnett, and child; Mrs Ehann. All well. Four deaths of children ; two births are reported. January 25.—The Eiugaroomti sailed for Port Chalmers at 2 p.m. Wellington, January 24.—Arrived: This morning, the ship Shakespeare, from Hamburgh, with immigrants, equal to 338 adults; all foreigners. She is 107 days out, and reports fever on board. Though there is only one case at present there have been several. Tbe ship has been placed in quarantine and she is reported to be in a very dirty state.
