AN EXPLANATION.
To the Editor,
Sin, - My house having been quarantined in consequence of the illness of a family who occupied a part of it, a report has been put into circulation, and an impression has been made on the public mind, that my family was supported by the Government during the period of Quarantine. I beg leave to give the statement the most unqualified contradiction. Neither I nor my family have ever received any other support (thank the Lord for hia kindness) than that obtained by our own earnings—l trust an honest industry. After the termination of quarantine I sought for remuneration for the extra expenses incurred, which has not as yet been attended to. Will you kindly favor me by inserting this and oblige John Waidib. Maitland street, Dunedin, J an. 22.
