BYE-L VWB of the Mornington Road District, duly made In pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in “The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871,” “ Amendment Ordinance, 1874,” “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,” and “ The Highway Boards Em, owering Act, 1872.” and passed at a meeting of the Mornington Road Board, held in the Mornington Road Distrct on the sixteenth day of December, 1875, intituled, ** Bye-laws to provide for the order and good government of the Mornington Road District :
1. It shall not be lawful for any person to wheel, lead, drive, or ride in any dray, cart, carriage, or barrow, or to ride on horseback upon, or to lead or drive any horses or cattle across or along any footpath formed alongside any street ; line, or district road, and any person committing an offence against this bye-law shall, on conviction, forf.it a sum not exceeding five pounds. 2. It shall not be lawful for any person to draw or trail any sledge, timber, or other material, upon or along any street, line, or district road, and any person committing an offence against this bye law shall, on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding five pounds. *• Every person who throws any glass, dirt, fi-tb, manure, ashes, or rubbish, or allows any night soil or other offensive matter to be spilt or otherwise cast upon any street, line, ordistnct road, or allows to run from any house or prem'ses any foul or sewerage water on to any street, line or district ioad. shall on convictic**-, forfeit a sum uot exceeding five mouu'ls 4 Every person wno throws or lays any building or other materials, or constructs or erects any scaffolding or fence upon any street mie, or district road, save under permission of the Boad Board, m writing first obt dned, shall on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding twenty pounds. 6

If any person shall place any house, buildIng, or fence, or any part thereof, upon any pertion tf any street, line, or district road, he shall forfeit a sum not exceeding ten pounds and a further sum n< t exceeding five pounds’ for every day while the same shall so continue’ o. It any person shall obstruct any street Irne, or district road, whether by allowing any vehicle to remain on such street, line, or district roail, or by placing goods thereon, or otherwise, n« snail, on conviction, forfeit a sum not exceeding ten pounds. 7.
