THE ST. MATTHEW’S BAZAAR.
To the Editor. SIR, —I read with reg et a letter in a late Issue of your journal signed “ Query.” Had your correspuu lent been in sean;b of iufoi matron it is a pity be bad nob attended the public meeting of the Church in question, held a few nights ago, when no doubt all his questions Would have Ijeen fully answered. I have taken the trouble to examine two of the daily journals and find the bazaar was advertised as being in aid of “the organ and bu filing fund.” Perhaps your correspondent can produce a “placard or a handbill” in support of his statement, which certainly requires such a confirmation. On reading the report of the Church, just Issued, I find the Vestry have b<en negotiating for an organ, and further I understand that when the instrument is procured they intend to pay for it without asking the public for any subscriptions towards the same. Perhaps the next time “Query” favors you he will, before writing, be quite certain as to Facts. Dunedin, Jannuary 18.
