For Taranaki—Mr Ste- 1 pheason, and seven in the steerage. Messrs Houghton and Co.’s s.s. Express left last evening for her usual trip to the Bluff. On Sunday evening about six o'clock, the cutter Hope from Dunedin to Kaitangata for coals went ashore on the north spit, Port Molyndux. The master being unable to distinguish the signal*, and being unacquainted with the locality, attempted to cross the spit instead of taking the bar, and grounded high up on the beach. At lc> water she lies high and dry, but should the weather keep favorable it is expected she will be got off, although an attempt to float her did not succeed. The master is himself the owner of the cruft, which is partly insured. The wreck of the s.s. Lady of the Lake is fast breaking up. Already one of the masts has been washed ashore, and each receding tide leaves the beach strewn with portions of the wreck. Should there be a few day’s rough weather what remains of the vessel will quickly be separated.— 1 Clutha Leader.’
