THE INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.
Play is to be commenced at noon to-morrow. Hendley has been enabled to prepare a pitch that bos given general satisfaction; indeed, we do not think the ground has looked so well for season’s past. The match committee have been indefatigable, and there is reason to believe that their arrangements will he found complete. They had hoped to secure the services of a band of music for one day; but in this they have not yet succeeded. The Canterbury team, before leaving home, selected Mr A. M. Ollivier—a most worthy choice—as their captain: our men wi.l choose theirs at this evening’s practice. We are informed that Mrs Lathbury presents a silver cup to the highest scorer in the match: Mrs J. S. Webb, a gold medal to the highest scorer in the Otago team; Messrs Peterson and Co., of Christchurch, a silver cup to the highest scorer in the Canterbury team; and Messrs Kohn and Co. a gold medal to the best average bowler in the Otago team. We would again remind ladies wishing tickets of admission to the marquee that they can bo obtained from members of the Match Committee. The lessees of the Queen’s Theatre have thrown the theatre open to the visiting team during their stay here.
