THE CHRISTCHURCH-TIMARU RAILWAY.
rm. January 18. The railway through to Titnaru will be opened on February Ist. This line is over 100 miles long. The Primitive Methodist Conference yesterday elected the Rev, J. Dumhell, Vice-Presdent and the Rev, J, Standria, Secretary. The following statistics of the Church m New Zealand were read : -11 ministers, 46 congregations, and 819 Church members, being an increase of 177 for the year, 1,674 Sabbath scholars, and Church property of the value of L 12,628* Ihe Arawata, with the outward Suez mail, was detained from yesterday till this morning, owing to a.slight accident to her machinery.
