FALSE PRETENCE.

To the Editor. Sib,—l be°r, through your columns, to ask a question. I will state the facts of the case a* briefly as possible, Some short time ago » baziar was held in connection with St. Matthews'* Church. On the placards, handbills, tickets, and also in ihe papers it was distinctly stated to be for the benefit of the organ fund. I gave my mite, and took great interest in the bazaar, alo- g with other friends of mine Now, sir, imagine my surprise. On reading the report of last night's meeting I find that the proceeds of the bazaar—over L7oo—have been used for some other purpose. Is not this, I ask, obtaining money under a false pretence? If funds were required to reduce the debt of the church, why not advertise the bazaar for that purpose ? In my humble opinion it is a great injustice to all the subscribers. Many musical men did their level best to make the bazaar a success, in the hope that at no distant period they hear the strains of a fine organ; but their hopes are blighted and their efforts blasted,—l am, &c.
