Wanganui, for Lyfctleton, January 10. The Hawea, with Sau Francisco mail, arrived at Lyttoltou at seven o'clock this morning, and is expected at Port Chalmers early to-morrow. A heavy south-easter detained her in Wellington for twentyfour hours. Tho Wanganui is at Timaru to-day, loading wool for the Jessie Headman. She leaves to-night for Port Chalmers. The schooner Jessie Nicol arrived at Poi t Chalmers yesterday afternoon from Timaru, with part cargo of grain. She left Timaru outbe afternoon of j the sth; experienced light airs and calms tho first part of the passage, then southerly winds until 4 a.m. yesterday, when it shifted to the eastward to arrival. Captain Heury Greer, of the Clarcuce aud Richmond S.N. Co. writes from Glasgow ou the 20th Octobci “ Yesterday I was present at tho launch of the Zealandia, the first of tho now line of steamers intended for the Sydney and Sau Francisco line. She is certainly the most perfect passenger steamer I have ever seen, and beautifully ventilated.” At the launch the christening was performed by a daughter of Mr Thomas Russell.
