ELECTORAL NOTES.
At Waikaia, the following were nominated :—Mr H. Bastings, proposed by Mr Collie; Mr D. H. Mervyn, proposed by Mr Allen; Mr G. Ireland, proposed by Mr Braithwaite. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Bastings. ; Local accounts say that Mr Walter John-* son is certain to be returned for Manawatu. ; For Egmont the Hon. Major Atkinson and Mr Ivess are candidates. The latter will not be supported out of his own immediate locality, and even at Patea his following-will be small. The return of Major Atkinson,' therefore, may be anticipated. j The Hon. W. H. Reynolds addressed a large number of the Blueskin electors at the Good Templars’ Hall, Waitati, last evening; Mr Grant in the chair. At the conclusion of his address Mr Reynolds replied in a satisfactory manner to questions put by several' of the electors. A vote of thanks was awarded Mr Reynolds for his address and explanations.
