The competition for Messrs Sargool, Son, an-i Evven’s three prizes of i.lO 10?, L 6 6s, and 1-4 4s respectively, was held at the Normal School to-day. Theprizesare opnntoo >mue;ife>u to all the public schools, and each of these m* entitle. Ito send five competitors. From the High .School there were five entries ; from tho Middle, South, and Noith ficliools two each, and from the Albany street school one The subjects are writing, mental aiithmetic, and decimal fractions, especially as applied to commercial pursuits. In writing the points chiefly considered are formation of letters, position of the body, and rapidity. The examination is conducted by Mr Petri', and some professional gentlemen are to examine the writing,
