r Mr Cornford is ootting out in opposition to Mr Carrington for New Plymouth, and is supported by all the districts. It is thought that he will be returned by a majority. The Hokitika district will he contested fey several candidates - Messrs Reid, Button, JBarff, Hoo*, and possibly the former County Chairman (Mr Robinson) and Mr John White. The Buller is likely to return Mr O’Conor unopposed. INVERCARGILL NOMINATION. The nomination of candidates to represent Invercargill took place at noon to-day : —MrR. Cameron proposed and Mr R. Millar seconded. Mr G. Lu i Bdeu : and Mr W. H. Calder proposed, and Mr Cleave seconded, Mr J. R. Cuthbertson. Both candidates addressed the •lectors at some length The show of hands was in favor of Mr Cuthbertson. The poll takes place on Frida*-.
