Monday, December 13. (Before Messrs E. ff Ward and J. Brown, Esqs., J.P.’s.) Drunkenness. -Thomas Paul was fintd LB, or twenty-foui hours’ for this offence William M‘Lood, Alexander Johnson, Henry Johnson, and Moses Price, for being drunk on Tuesday, were fined 10s- each, or forty-eight hours, Richard Miles, against whom there were several previous convictions, was fined 40s, or fourteen days, [With reference to the last-mentioned prisoner, 91r Ward said everybody had been glad to see him for some time past e .ruing an honest livelihood but now it appeared that he had broken out as a drunkard. His (Mr Ward’s) impression was that every pore of prisoner’s skin was filled witli whisky, brandy, and colonial beer.—Pribo or expressed his intention, if let off, of uot touching any m«re, hut without avail.] Breach of the Peace. —John Henderson alias Sanderson, and George Carter were chafed with fighting in Princes street at twelve o’clock on Saturday night. The former did not appear and a warrant was issued for his apprehension Carter, who pleaded that he m.-rely fought in self-defence—finding himself siuld-nly knocked down—was fined 20a or forty-eight hours’. Breach of the Railway Bte-laws, Wm. Connell charged John Bromil with getting into a railway carriage on the Port Chalmers I ne while the train was in motion.—tcoused did not appear, and a warrant was issued for his apprehension.
