WASTE LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held yesterday; present—Messrs Strode (in the chair), Bastings, Butterworth, Clark, and Reid.

Mr D. Campbell appUcd to purchase three southern acres of reserve at section 50, block 2, Mauugatua, to complete property, and to lease the northern five acres of the same section for fourteen years at 4s per aero per annum. Referred to the Ranger, to report as to the advisability of selling or leasing any part of the reserve. Mr G, Graham reapplied to purchase the islands opposite his property, sections 2 and 3, block 6, Maungatua, to complete it. Referred to the Ranger for report. The runholder’s consent having been obtained to the purchase and the survey made, Mr R. Johnston asked the Board to deal with his application for section 1, b'oek 6, Blackstone. Referred to the District Land Officer to see if there is any objection on the graund of interference with mining interests. Mr H. L. Squires, for Mr S. M‘Comb, applied for a seven years’ license under clause 91 to occupy 10 acres of the mining reserve, block 3, Tuapeka West, adjoining section 50. Refused.

Mr P. A, Connelly applied for a license to construct a water-race for farming and domestic purposes, commencing at Coal Creek and ending at sections 18 and 19, block 2, Hyde township. Plan of survey was submitted. Granted.

A petition was read from occupants of land in block 7, Rock and Pillar, for altertion of road from Hyde to Fullarton’s, passing between sections 24 and 25, and to the south of section 25, The Board has no pover to do so, and decided that both lines remain open.

Mr N. Williams applied for a renewal of his water-race areas at Waikirikiri Spring Gully, Monteri Run, as per section 67, subsection 7, of the Act of 1872. Agreed to. Messrs A. Dimond and others wrote objecting to Mr K. Coghill’s application for an acre of land at Havelock, adjoining his property. Referred to District Land Officer. Mr J. Hogg asked the Board to re-consider their decision of November 17, approving of Mr J. Mitchell’s application for section 62, block 6, Tuepeka West. the Board are unable to interfere further in the matter.

Mr G. Reynolds applied to purchase 56 acres of bush reserve, section 23, block 1, Moeraki. Ht fused. The Government recommended that the sale of lands of special value in fleriot Hundred should shortly take place at the upset prices previously agreed upon. A pproved ; sale to be advertised at once for 30 days. The Government recommended that auction sales of the various townships in the Province be advertised to be held early next month. Approved; the former system of quarterly sales to be re umed.
