To thf Editor, Sir, —In reading the report of the Regatta Committee meeting, held at the Criteiion Hotel, I see the Committee have decided to adept tho Sydney rule for the definition of the term “ amateur.” Now, sir, as the said rule is not generally known to tire public, it would only he fair if the Committee were to publish H so as to enable others than themselves to understand it. In reference to the “heavy four-oar race,” may I ask the meaning of it. Is it for boa's of a certain length, breadth, 'depth , or is it of a cert, in w right, as I fail to understand the meaning of it. As the boats are subject to the approval of the Management Committee, perhaps they may enlighten us on the subject.
