CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, November 17. (Before E, M'Glashan, Esq., and C. Flexman. E=q., .I.P.’b) Disori.erlt Characters. Thomas Hill, an old offender, for being drunk, was sent to g:iol for three days. He was further charged wlt, h being a rogue and a vagabond. Several convictions for minor offences were proved against the prisoner, who was described as a frequrnier of brothels and an associate of thieves and prostitutes. For months past he had done no wok. He was sent to gaol for three months. Edward Robinson, a man of color, better known as “Snowball,” was charged with having no lawful means of support. < ’ons able M’Leod said that prisoner bad no fixed place of abode. He was a very disorderly character, and pretended to gain a iivim; by gathering bottles. - Sergt. Anderson stated that he had known the prisoner for seven or eight years. >ie was an associate of thieves and prostitutes, and had been convicted several ttmea of larceny. Prisoner was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment On a further charge of resisting Constable M'Leod in attempting to arrest him, he was sentenced to an addioional term of six months’ imprisonment, with hard labor.
Riotous Conduct.— Joseph Brown for conducting himself in a disorderly manner at the Oiiii oh of England Cemetery on the previous day, was sent to gaol fur < ne month, with bar t labor, hor assaulting Constable Barry he was sentenced to an additional month’s imprisonment, and for damaging the uniform he was ordered to pay the damage done (Li ss), in default an additional month’s imprisonment. Charles .Smith and Angus M’l eod, lor fighting in Piinces street, were each fined 20s, in default three days’ imprison* ment.
Drunkenness.— William Carr, not appearing, forfeited the amount of his bail (20s). MINOR Uffesoe.— John Oasey v. William Craytield, a trivial charge of using threatening language, was dismissed.
