The magnificent new steamships Zealandia and Australia, of S,OCO tons register, now being completed on the Clvde hv Messrs John Elder and Co., for the New South Wales, New Zealand, and San Francisco mail service, are announced to leave Loudon for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand in November (this month) and December respectively. They are expected to make the passage to Melbourne in forty-three days. ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP MATAURA. The Mataura left Gravesend on August 8, and took her departure from ihe Start on the 10th. She got the N.E. trades on the 24th in 35. and lost them on the 31st in 16. Thence experienced variable wind with rain to September 13, when she got the S.E. tradns in IN. Crossed the equator on the 14th in 23, and mat the trades on the 23rd. Passed the meridian ol Greenwich on October C, in 39, and the Cape ou Ltei 10th in 42. On the 13th and 14th passed an ern.ru.ouu quantity of icebergs and floating ice, which was not lost sight of for ft distance of 180 miles. Passed the meridian of Tasmania l on the 3rd of November, and made Root Point at noon on the 9th. Arrived at Nelson at poon on the 10th. Landed 250 immigrants, who wore under the charge of Dr Kennady, and left again on tins I!) tip Had head winds to the French Pass, when she got a N.W. wind through the Straits hj« fftp as {fie Kaikouras, thence light baffling winds until tki* morning, when she got a N.E. wind, which continued till arrival off the Ibices at 11 o’clock.
