THE OAMARU SHOW.
The show of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association on Thursday and Friday promises'to surpass any previous similar annual competition, and the large entry satisfactorily demonstrates, as well the increasing interest ta l en by our agriculturists and stoc; owners in the operations of the society, as the rapid progress of the district itself. The following is a complete list of the entries ; Horses Draughts, 93; blood horses and hacks, 65 ; extra and for private prizes, 22. Cattle2 7; Ayrshries, 58; general, 36 ; extra and for private prizes, 5. Sheep—Merinos, 34 ; Leicester.', 52 ; Lincolns, 37; i.omuey Marsh, 22 ; o'her breeds, 10. Pigs, 5; poultry, 45; dairy produce, 53 ; cured pork, 7 ; implements, 32 ; buggies and harness. 14 ; bread, 12 In 1867, when the society was founded, the exhibits numbered 142, in 1868 th y were 172; in 1869, 198; in 1870, 230 ; in 1871, 272 ; in 1872, 395 ; in 1873, 635; in 1874, 504 ;in 1875, 650. At this rate of progression, we (‘ N O. Tim.-s’) may expect that in, say, three years hence 'he entries will react) four figures, and the annual event of the a-sociaticn will extend over three days, instead of two as at present, or, as formerly sufficed, one.
