The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning • present—the Chief Commi - ipuer, , Messrs Bastings, Battei worth, ■Jiarke, Strode and Reid. T.te question was discussed whether a deferred p lyment licensee can proceed aga nt a person •or trespass on his unfenced laud over which he has wot obtained his title, ihe doard de* cidtd to decline giving any advice to applicant, and referred him to his own so.icitor. Messrs Stewart and Doughty, for Mr A. D Benfell, applied for a license to oecu y four acres of land, a reserve at Mataur* Bridtre, for the purposes of brick and pottery making, under clause 91 of the Act of 1h72 The Ranger ,o report. Mr F. Gourmau Dalgety applied for leave to construct a water-race at VUuuherlkia River. Survey to be made before consideration. Mr W. Mardling applied for a lease of section 26, block 7, Rock and Pillar distric . A seven years’ license was granted under clause 91, at L 5 per annum, without compensation, Mr G. W. Goodgor applied to purchase about fifty acres of land on the Olyde to I Cromwell road. The District I and Officer intimated that the ground wa ■. not auriferous. Mr Peter Pegns, of ake Walpori, applied to lease portion • £ land adjoining block 9, in the townsuip of Berwick, for a black- { stni h’s shop. A quarter-acre was granted under clause 161, at LI per annum rent. Mr Oouald Uameroa applie i to purchase 25 acres, a hush reserve, section 9, block 5, ' uu' dui and East Taieri. Vo Pe sold by auction at an upset price of Ll per acre. App {cations to purchase under agricultural lease :--Mr H. Campbell, sections I and 2. blocks, Wj.ua ka; Air u. Cie = euts, seclion 2, block 17, and section 97, clock 5, ■'holover. Both applications were referred to the Government.
Applications to exchange agricultural for deferred payment leases Mr W. Lea k, sections 17 and 2, block 2, Tiger Hill ; Mr W. Corigal, s ction 5, block 2 ; Mr John Kerrin, sections 4 and 5, block 2, Cardroua. All were approved It was decided that the Rangers should make a tour of inspection over all deferred payment leases, agricultural leases, and tree planting areas, to see that the laws and legulations are carried out, and to report as soon after the Ist January a* possible auy instances where they are not carried out.
