WASTE LAND BOARD

The weekly meeting of the Board was held j to day. Present—The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Butterworth, Clark, Strode, and Reid. The upset price of suburban allotments under five acr ; s was rained to L 5 an acre ; those ahove ten acres to 1 3 per acre. The matter of the extension of Mr Murphy'* lease of the Clutha land spit was referred to the Provincial Secretary. After consideration Mr J. M'Failane's application, for twenty-one years' extension of his lease, or that the land be submitted to auction at a price to be fixed and subject to valuat'on for improvements, was referred to the Provincial secretary. The Naseby District Land Officer transmitted Mr P. A. Connelly's a p ieation for a water-race license over land commencing at Coal Cree< and termmating at sec ion 18, block 2 Hyde township. To be surveyed and then to be considered. There was a short reconsideration of tbo case suhmitted to Judge Williams under clause 6 of the Waste Land Appeal Act of 1867 re applications for deferred payment block in Heriot Hundred and their allotment. It was stated that the Judge had ac know-edged the ie?eipt of the case, but that as he had to leave town it would have t:> atand over till bis return. - After a short discussion, in which Mr Keid expressed the opinion that the case was not prop-r'y drawn up, as it did not appear that applicative hj ;d been received by Mr Willia in his office the matter waß again adjourne 1 to allow of Mr Keid's putting in his .-uggestions. The Lawrence sistrict Land < ffi er returned deferred payment licenses 518 553 and 554 in favor of Mr A. M'Kbday, Mr H. I Turnbull, and Mr A. Robertson for sections 23, block 4, 23 and 8, block 5, Gre n vale, rej apectively, and reported to the Bo rd their j refusal or neglect to execute such liconses on j notices being served in terms of clause 52 B lof the Act of 1872 Declared voi-i, and to ! be re-opened for application clause 49 | of the .-\ct. j 'virH. Douglas, sections 3li, 37, 38, 39, and 111, block 5, Shofover, and sections 117, block 3, &c. ; Messrs A. H. ><oug!as and A. Cray, sections 33, 34. and 3S, block 1, Mid-Waka-tipu ; Mr Ihoaias pain, section 14, block 1, Tiger Hill; \f r W. H. Miller, section 48, block 4, Table Hill; Mr George Ludeman, sections 73, 13, and 13, b'ock 4 Shotover. Mr Luße Welsh pplied to purchase pari of section 30, block 1, Akatore. Ranger to report. The following application to purchase land under agricultural leases was approved : Mr H. H. W. Carsteno, section 1, block 2 Shotover. Mr F. G. Dalgety applied to be allowed to purchase fifty-fi e acres of land on run 322, adjoining his homestead, for a cultivation paddock. Granted under clause 150 of the Act of 1872. Mr R. Clements applied to purchase section 2, block 17, and secti >n 97, block 5, bhotover, under deferred payment lease. Postponed, pending opinion of the Judge.
