INQUEST AT PORT CHALMERS.
An inquest was held this afternoon at the Town Hall, Port Chalmers, before Dr O'Donoghue, District Coroner, and a jury of twelve, upon the remain? of Alfred Smith, who was killed yesterday on the railway pier. After hearing the evidence of George Wilson, goods porter, Charles Stevenson, hoi se driver, Appolos Dale, wharf foreman, and Mrs Ellen vV llson, the jury returned the following verdict :—" That Alfred Smith was, on or about the 3rd inst., accidentally killed on the Bowen railway pier by beinsr run over by a truck."
