ARRIVAL OF THE SAN FRANCISCO MAILS.

Auckland, November 4. The City of Melbourne, with the English and American mails from San Francisco, arrived this morning, making the passage across in twenty-two dayß and eighteen hours, or three days under contract time. The Vasco di Gama, the pioneer of the new line of steamers, left San Francisco for Auckland and Sydney two days before the City of Melbourne, which overtook her at Honolulu. Mr Thomas Henderson, of Auckland, is a p;>s-<enger by the Vasco di Gama. The City of Alelbourr.e had fine weather till arrival at this side of the Fijis, on the Ist inst., wh> n the wind suddenly huuled to the S.W. and blew a gale till arrival. Passengers for Auckland : Mrs Mullins; Messrs B. Tonks, liornsby, J. Battray, Ross, and A. The Vasco, which left Honolulu seven hours before the City of Melbourne, has a large cargo and seventy passengers, and is expected to arrive hourly. The heavy westerly gale blowing will probably prevent the Taranaki leaving with the Southern portion of the mails to-day. London* October 10.
