AN EMPHATIC RRIDEGROOM
A newly-married couple from the rural districts in Yankee-land were riding in a street car the other day, and the groom insisted on holding the bride's hand in his big red paw. "Oh, no ; dont!" she said, as she jerked her hand away. " Oh, luv ! let me hold ycr hand jest for ton minutes," he pleaded. " Shoo ! don't you see they are looking ut us?" she whispered. " They aro, oh !" he replied, looking up and down the car. " Wall, nov° I'm going to put my arm ' right around ye, and if any fellow in this car dares to look crooked, I'll get up % mop the floor with him until I wear hi iu up to his shoulder blades !" His arm encircled her, and the other passengers looked as solemn us if they were on their way from a funeral. —American Paper.
