WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board wa? yeaterd y; present—the Chief Commissioner, Messes Bastings, Butterworth, Clarke, Held, and Strode, Mr Edward Boyd applied for a license, under clause 161 of the Act of 1872. to occupy section 4, block 9, Kaitangata, for a term of seven years for grazing purposes, at LlO per annum. As there was a seam of coal of coal on tho land it was decided to ask the Bangor’s opinion as to whether it should be sold or not. The upset price of town and suburban allotments was fixed at for front sections, L 8 ; back sections, L 5. Mr W. H. S. Roberts applied to purchase sections 70 and 71, block Waipahce, to complete his property, and save him the expense of a fresh survey of his boundary line. The Board decided that they had no power, being declared under deferred payments. Mr W. Ashton requested the Board to grant him an acre of village reserve at Greenvale, at the present upset price, for a site for a smithey. Government to be asked to get the township cut up into sections. Mr G. P. Martin asked that run 463 bo again submitted to auction. Applicant’s letter was simply read, the Board not being in a position to consider the matter, as it was already closed. Mr Simon Athy and others asked that a road should he reserved through Mr T. Nutsford’a application as ingress to the bush reserve. The Board minuted that the land is now being surveyed, and due care will be taken to reserve ro^ds. The toad engineer reported on Mr Hawkins’s application on behalf of Mr George to purchase the quarry reserve, part of section 29, block 2, Akatore, at 20s per acre. Declined. Mr James Tyrrell applied to lease a portion of the railway reserve in Clyde township, situated between sections 4 and 5, block 12, and 4 and 5, block 15, for garden purposes. Declined. Mr Samuel Halcrow intimated his intention to surrender section 31, block 1, Chatton, taken on deferred payments. Surrender to i>e accepted and then advertised. Applications to purchase under agricultural lease :—George Rodgers, aectiou 32, block 1, Crookston (approved) ; George Beer, sections 29 and 32, block 6, MidWakatipu (approved); John Gamble, sections 21 and 33, block 1, Crookston (approved).
