PORT CHALMERS TOWN COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Port Chalu ors Town Council was held last evening; present—the Mayor, Cra. Asher, Reid, Dodson, and M'Kinlay. Correspondence was read as follows :—From Mr Willis, Under-Secretary, forwarding apian of tho reserves for the Port Chalmers Water Supply. From Mr J. Galvin, offering to iclease sections on the town belt. Application granted ou condition that he pay the arrears of rent due. < From Mr W. Southgate, offering to lease section 10, town belt, at LI Is per annum. —Accepted. From Mr J. Thomson, offering to lease the recreation grounds for grazing purposes at the rate of L 8 per annum, or at LlO per annum for four years, if tho < 'ouncil repair the fence and keep ihe same in good order.— Resolved that the offer of L 8 per annum be accepted. His Worship called the attention of the Council to the road leading from the railway station to Observation Point, and suggested that it would bo advisable at the next meeting that steps be taken to have the sections now reclaimed surveyed, in order that the full width of the street (GGft) be reserved. The Inspector of Works reported as to Beach street drainage, and suggested that a culvert be laid down to connect with the existing culvert, near the railway station, the siza of culvert 12 xl2 inches, length 90 feet. The matter was referred to the Works Committee. Mr S. Perry’s tender for cartage was accepted at the rate of 14s 6d per day, or 2s per hour. Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
