Wanganui, for Blutf, October 20. The brigantine Eliza Mary took her departure last evening for Kaipara. Tbe schooner Pioneer, for Shag Point, sailed this morning. , Private telegraphic advices per s.s. Oroco state that the s.s. i-asly was to sail from Sydney for Dunedin on the 14th inst. The Union Company’s p.s. Samson sailed this morning for Oamaru shortly after the arrival of the seven o’clock train from Dunedin. The Union S.S. Co.’s Maori arrived at the Bluff at 9 p.m. from Grcymouth via Jackson’s Buy, Martin’s Bit , and Preservation Inlet. She is due at Dunedin early to-morrow. The bai-que Frederick Bassell, with a full cargo of timber and fruit from Hobart Town, was towed up by the tug Geelong this morning. She left Hobart Town on the sth inst.; had W.N.W. winds for twenty-four {hours; then E.S.E. and N.E. winds until making the south-end of Stewart’s Island at 7_»,m. on the 16th; passed the Nuggets on the l7tb, and had variable winds along the Coast to arrival at the Heads at 10 p.m. last night. The throe-masted schooner Melanie, with a cargo of timber and kaun spars from Kaipara, was towed up this morning as far as the lover audio-ago hy the s.s Jane, and will bo towed to Dunedin at high water to discharge. She left Kaipara on the 4th inst., with S.W. winds as far as (Jape Egmont which was passed on the 7th ; then had strong S.E. winds in the straits, and ran under Mane Island for shelter ; remained there until the 12th, had N.W. winds to the Kaikouras, and thence light, variable winds and thick weather to the Heads. The brig August, with a cargo of tea from Too Chow, sailed up’: yesterday afternoon with a Indit N.E. wind, and anchored off Deborah Bay Being of a light draught, of water she will discharge at Dunedin. She left Eoo Chow on the 24th of Julv • had variable winds until crossing the equator on the Bth September in long. 166 E.; thence baffling winds until (ho 11th instant, when sho encountered a heavy gale from the S.W., which lasted until midday on the 12th ; passed Cook’s Straits on tlm 13th ; thence had N. and N.E. winds, and was off the Heads on the 17th; the weather being thick and foggy stood off until daylight, and made the Heads yesterday forenoon. SHIPPING TELEGRAM. Lyttelton, October 18.—The Waikato, with £OO tons of gram ami 40 tons of flour, clews to-night for Wellington.
