The local Board of Health met today, to consider two undoubted eases of scarlet fever one in a private house, and the other in the Immigration Barracks A committee was appointed to look for a suitable plica to isolate the cases. The Board meets again this evening to receive a report. Auckland, Ootober 12. The South British report was adopted, and the directors re-elected. Their honorarium was increased to L7OO a year. The White Eagle passed the hull of a large iron ship, burned out. The letters "T. I. "of the vessel's name, and "L. J. R. " of the port were made out. A boat's ciew boarded her, and not a bid of wood except part oi the jibboom was found remaining in the vessel. She was Sf-en in lat. 25deg. 58min. S. ; long. 35deg. 32min. west. Christchukch, October 12. John Williams, arraigned at the last session of the Supreme ' 'ourt for obtaining 1,200 cornsacks iroin a Cbristchurch merchant by false pretences, but discharged on a technicality, has beon rearrested on a charge of obtaining sacks at Balkrat, Victoria, by falßo pretences. It seems that Inspector Fiest suspected »Villiams of being a Victorian offender, and while Williams was awaiting trial, Feist communicated with the Victorian authorities, anl hi& suspicions proved correct. A warrant was received frem Victoria by the last steamer, and Williams was at once arrested. A Court of the Ancient Order of Druids is to be established here. {From our own Correspondent.) Oamaru, October 12. John Allan has been committed for trial for issuing valueless cheques at Hampden. Warrants for similar work in Dunedin are out against him.
