BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

(From our own Correspondent.) RITEBTON, October*). A fracai occurred on tho Orepuki Railway works on Thursday night between Mr Proudfoot’a men and Mr Brodrick’s contractors’ men. 'I he latter have been instructed by the Government to on with the bridge under construction by Mr Proudfoot, but Mr Proudfoot fenced in the ground and refused to permit Brodiick’s men to p oceed with the contract. The opportune interference of the police prevented anything like a aerieus disturbance, which would moat likely have resulted had they not made their appearance, as several men were armed with revolvers. The affair is to be brought before the Court shortly, so that full particulars will come out. About twenty summonses have been issued.
