Au amendment was put to the effect that the meeting had no co- fidence in the desire of the present government to do justice to the Thames in the matter of representation, nnd expressing a hope that the coming general election would place the Government of the country the hands of men more competent to wield it, and influenced by more honest motivu.i. This found m».ny supporters, but was lost on it show of hands. A fur!her resolution was carried to telegraph the resolutions to Maior Atkinson, Sir G. Grey, and Mr O’Neill. . Auckland, Oc'ober 7.
