New Plymouth, September 28. In the Intercolonial Football Match Taranaki won the toss, when Dunnett kicked off for Auckland, and in ten. minutes made half a point by a force-down. Drew, of l'aranaki, made a goal by a splendid kick. At one o'clock the scores stood—Auckland, half a point; Taranaki, nine points. The Auck'anders are t°° light for the Taranaki players. The game was not finished when the message left.
Auckland, September 28. At Ooromandel the strong box of the Tokatea Company was broken in'o and 250 ounces amalgam, valued at LlB9, stolen. The thieves are not yet captured. The ship City of Auckland has arrived from London. The voyage took 105 days. During the paAsa.e the cargo was broached, and it was shown that tha perpetrators scrambled over some kegs of powder to get at two cufie3 of brandy.
