Friday, Peptkmber 24. (Before H. S. Fish, Esq., and A. Mercer. Esq., J.P.'s)

Drunkenness.—William Lloyd and James Wilson were each fined ss, with the alternative of twenty-four hours' imprisonment; Joseph Hind for being drunk while in charge of three hordes and a dray, was fined 20s, or twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Obscene Language.—James Wilson, on a further charge of using obscene language, was fined 10s, or twenty-four hours' imprisonment. He was discharged on a charge of resisting Sergeant Anderson whilst in execution of his duty. For damaging Sergeant Anderson's uniform ha was fined L 3, or throe days' imprisonment.

Vagrancy.—Ellen Delany alias G'Donohue, charged with having no lawful means of support, was dismissed with a caution.

stealing Eggs.—Wm. Millar was charged with stealing a baßket of butter and eggs, of the value of 14s, the property of Mary Millar, of Green Island, on September 22.—Prisoner and prosecutor are man and wife, the latter holding a married woman's- protection order. On the day in question prisoner called at his wifes house at Green Island, and saw her making her market produce. He volunteered to carry a basket for her to town, and she accepted his offer. The wife, however, sternly objected to travel by the r<fod, while the husband was equally reluctant to go by railway. Prosecutor, on her way to town, stopped to se)l her goods, and wben she a; rived at Uavershara she came up with prisoner, whom she found had made away with the contents of her basket. She accordingly gave him in charge. 1 rosecutor's version of the affair was that she did not willingly give prisoner the basket, but that he wrested it fiom her.—The Bench, m discharging accused, cautioned him to keep away from his wiie, otherwise he would get into trouble.

Embezzlement. Andrew Caldwell was charged with embezzling the «um ot I 10, the property of James Wilson, brewer, his late employer. Prisoner pleaded guiltv, and Baid ho was intoxicated at the time. Ho waß sentenced to six months' imprisonment.—On a •halve of stealing a cheque for 1,31 19s 6d the property of Mr Wilson, he was committed for trial.
