The local chess players challenge the Colony to a tournament, to bo conducted through the telegraph. The trophy ia to be a cup, to be won three years in succession before it becomes the absolute property of any Province, if Otago desire to take part in the tournament, it should communicate with air G. S. Jenkins, Secretary to the Ponson'y Club, Auckland.
