FIRE BRIGADE DONATIONS.
To tlu> Editor.
Sin,—ln readiug your l«Rt night's issue I observed a letter headed " Fire Brigade Donations," and, looking at the end to see the name of the writer, I was not all shocked at seeing the liberal man's nignaturo there. I think, sir, that Mr Fish has put his foot into this matter far enough, and that every righttbinkb.g man will say with me that he was the cause of that noble body ot men disbanding; and he ought to be the last man to speak of Messrs Henderson and Law giving their donation. I think Mr Fish must have a large amount of money when he talks of L 25 as being a miserable sum. I think he dhould laj down the pen if he cannot find something better to write about. I would like to see Mr Fish turn out of a cold winter's night and fight the flames, as these mm do, and then turn round ami refuse a cheque for L2O. He is the wrong man to do it, arid I think the Dunodin Eublic have been too long led by the nose by im to believe all he writes about. 1 Bhould advise him to say no more until lie is asked for a " miserable " twenty guineas.-—I am, &0., Fairplay. Dunedin, Sept. 18.
