THE PROPOSED NEW FIRE BRIGADE.
To t/ie Editffr.
Sir,—l would beg to call the attention of the Corporation and the citizens to the fact that the present Fire Brigade disband on the 11th of October, and the only step that lias been taken • by the Council was merely advertising for persons willing to form a new Brigade. At the last meeting of the City Council the Mayor stated that he had the names of twenty persons will to join the new Brigade. Considering that it will take a considerable time to make arrangements and practice bo as to enable these mm to work together. I think the Mayor and Councillors' should take more active steps in securing a body of men for the protection of the City from fire.—l am, &c, Katepateb, Dunedin, September 14.
