WELLINGTON.
[By Telegraph.]
(From our ovoa Correspondent.) Wellington, September 15. The Abolition Act is to come into force one day after the prorogation of next session. Considerable opposition, but not factious, will be offered to the passage of the Bill, principally by the Auckland contingent. Opposition is sure to be raised to the clause in the Bill preventing the meeting of Provincial Councils.
After the Ministerial explanation, Sir G. Grey announced that, though personally not agreeing with the conclusion come to, he would not oppose it, or in any way embarrass the Government in carrying the Bill.
(From n Correspondent)
The iJuneJin Wnterwoiksßill passed through Committee considerably amended. The rating powers ever the suburbs were opposed by Mr M'Glashau on behalf of the ratepayer-, and the clause was amended by a three-fourths majority. Clause 5 was unanimously struck out.
