The brigantine Camilla, for Hobart Town, was towed to sea by the s.s. Jane. The brigantine Sarn.li Pile took advantage of tbo S.W. wind yesterday and sailed for Oaiimru. The s.s. Lady ot the Lake arrived on Saturday evening from the Molyueux and passed up to Dunedin. Hie keich Grace sailed yesterday with a ful cargo for Waikouaiti. Th* Union Co.'s s.s. Beautiful Star will sail this evening for Lyttelton, via Tinman. The Union Co.’s s.s. Taupe was taken into the Graving Dock this morning. The cutter Nautilus hauled alongside the ship Altcar this morning to take in a cargo of cement for Timaam. The ship Portland commenced to uumoor this morning, and was towed alongside the railway pier this afternoon to discharge coals. The ship Timarn was removed this morning by the tug Geelong from the new pier, and anchored in the stream. Tbo Union Company’s p.s. Samson returned from Oamaru on Saturday afternoon, and passed the port to Dunedin. Messrs Houghton and Co.’s s.s. Wanganui returned from the Bluff at 7 a.m. yesterday with a full cargo and fifteen passengers. She ‘left the Bluff at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and had fresh westerly winds to arrival. The ketch Kestrel, with a full cargo of timber from Gatlin’s River, worked up the harbor yes terday morning and continued her course to Dunedin. She left Gatlin’s on Saturday afternoon, and had westerly winds along the coast. Cap’ain Bern reports that the Praukliu Bello had discharged her cargo of timber,|aud was hauled up on the river bank to repair damages sustained while grounding in the river. The Union Co.’s s.s. Taupo arrived from the Northern ports shortly after noou yesterday. She left Onehuuga at, 1.20 p.m. on the 7th, nud called at Taranaki, N.dson, Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Light E. and N. winds prevailed to Lyttelton, thence strong S.W. wind and confused sen. We thank Mr Newman ipurserl for report and exchanges. The Taupo will ho taken into the Graving Dock to be cleaned and recoated, and to ho sighted* which is rendered imperative by an incident on the run from Lyttelton. Owing to the strong S. W. wind blowing theTaupo hugged the luud ami passed inside Kish Reef, and the water being smooth and not the slightest break in the stirl she kept a little 100 close to the reef. The first, iutimation of a dangcro is patch of ground was given by tbe kelp weed, when rho helm was ported and the steamer sheered off, but whilst doing so she grazed the reef very slightly.
