NARROW ESCAPE FROM DROWNING.
About two o’clock yesterday afternoon annmber of children were playing on the old jetty at Vanxha 11, when a lad about seven years old. a aon of Mr Shedden, contractor, fell through the broken boards into the water. The tide was full in at the time, and none of the other children could render any assistance. Some of the children at last attracted the attention of a young man rained John Eagar, son of Mr William Eiigar, of Musselburgh, who ran down in the direction of the drowning boy, but could not see him. How ever, he immediately jumped into the water without divesting himself of boots or clothing, dived under, and brouglt up the nearly lifeless body of the child. The young man Eagar is n deaf mate, and this is the fifth instance of his saving life from drowning.
