Auckland, September 8. The Carisbrook Castle has received a clean bill of health. The Blanche has arrived from the South Sea Islands, She repoi'ts that the schooner Papua is supposed to have been lost on the voyage from llorotonga, with Captain Sutherland, a crew, and fourteen native passengers. {From our own Correspondent.) Ealcuitha, September S. ■ To-day Mrs Turnbull, wife of the DeputySuperintendent, with a large party of Dunedin ladies, arrived in a special train. They have now gone down the Clutha river in a steamer kindly lent by Mr C. F. lioid, and on their return will lunch at Mr Stanbrook’s (Town Hotel. The weather is glorious, and the visitors appear to he thoroughly enjoying the trip. A large number of people, principally visitors bent on pleasure, came up in the ordinary train.
