RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Monday, September 6. (Before J. Bathgate, fl isq., R. M.)

Carver v, R. W, Daniels (Queenstown). — This was a judgment summons on a claim of Lls 11s. Defendant did not appear, and his Worship eranted an order for the payment of the amount by monthly instalments of L 4, in default defendant to be imprisoned for fourteen days. Graham and Co. v. David Proudfoot.—Claim LB9 12s for work and labor done. Mr Barton appeared for plaintiffs and Mr Haggitt for defendant. —The evidence in the suit between the same parties heard in the District Court on Friday and published in that evening’s Star was, by agreement, held to apply to this case.— His Worship gave judgment for the amount claimed, with costs.

Judgment was given for plaintiffs in the following cases, with costs P, Burn v. David Robertson (Christchurch), claim L 3 0s Sd for butcher's meat supplied; Begg and others v. W. R. George (Riverton), claim of L 6 10s, balance due for a piano supplied. North and Brown v. Hoffman.—Claim of iff 00 ; ind damages, through defendants having obstructed the sale of the effects in the estate of Dr G. W. Cole. Mr Haggitt appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr Barton for the defence. His Worship, after hearing several witnesses, gave nominal damages for pltiutiffs, 40s and costs.
