THE PRICE OF GAS.
To the Editor. SIK, —Complaints enough have been made as to the alarming increase in our gas bills for several months past, as against the corresponding months of last year. But it would appear, from my own experience, that this is not the worst of it, and that we are likely, as the days get longer and the nights shorter, to have to pay for more gas instead of less. I have before mo my gas bills for the months of July and August. ,For the former month, for my private house, I am charged L2 9s, for the latter—L2 19s ; for my warehouse for July the account is LI 13s, for August—Ll 19s. Independent of the longer days, I have, as a matter of fact, for the mouth of August had occasion to barn gas in both places for a much shorter time each day than in the month of July, Perhaps Mr Kitchie or his engineer can explain this, for I cannot.—l am, &c., „ H. S. PISII, JDNR. Dunedm, September 6.
