_Mr Stout gave notice to auk by what authority Sir Julius Vogel entered into a contract with the N.Z, Shinping Company for the conveyance of immigrants, and whether the Government intend to ratify the same. Ten days’ leave of absence was granted Mr Taiaroa. Mr Sheehan asked whether < ‘he Government would Lay on the table cones pondence in reference to the Hoad Boards Ac 1. in Native Districts.
< Sir Donald M'Lean answered! .in the affirmative, and also promised to lay c n the table all correspondence relating to the (Dj ster Fisheries Act.
r lho following committee was .appointed to inquire into the alleged breach of the Disqualification Act:—Major Atkinson, .Sir George Grey, Messrs G. B, Parker, Johnston, Stout, Curtis, and Hollcatoii.
The Oamaru Gas Works Bill vas read a second time, and the Highway Boa*. ds Empowering Act Amendment Bill, 187% was passed.
